SEFCU Supports Capital District of New York State Chapter of the Stand Up and Play Foundation

The second Annual Stand Up and Play golf tournament on July 24, 2019 to support Disabled Veterans and Neighbors in Need was a big success. The event helped raise necessary funds for Paramobile units that give wheelchair users the ability to engage in physical activities they normally wouldn't be able to.

SEFCU stepped up by donating $90,000 over three years so that the Capital District Chapter of Stand Up and Play could purchase three new Paramobiles specifically to expand the Chapter’s ability to connect disabled veterans with the program and have access to the Paramobile units.

“The Stand Up and Play Foundation is providing our disabled military veterans with access to equipment and experiences that will change their lives,” said SEFCU President and CEO Michael Castellana. “These brave women and men dedicated their lives to protecting our freedom. Now, through the use of Paramobile units and this incredible organization, we are giving these veterans the freedom to improve their health and pursue their passions.”

The Capital District Chapter of the Stand Up and Play Foundation gives wheelchair users the chance to stand up and more fully experience various life-enriching activities ranging from playing golf, to sharing a slow dance, or simply looking someone in the eye.

The Capital District Chapter serves nearly 50 individuals, including several military veterans, using Paramobile units. If you or someone you know is disabled and could benefit from the ability to Stand Up and Play, more information about the organization can be found on their facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/SUPCapitalDistrictNY
